Omni Cell | Demountable Liquid Cell

The Omni-Cell™ is a modular, demountable transmission cell system designed for analyzing liquid, paste, and mull samples via infrared spectroscopy. It consists of a cell body and interchangeable window assemblies, enabling customization of optical pathlength and spectral range coverage from UV to Far-IR and THz regions.

The cell body features two aluminium backing plates with integrated PTFE and neoprene gaskets ensuring a sealed environment, and includes two Luer filling ports with PTFE stoppers for liquid sample introduction. Windows of various materials are available, offering different chemical compatibilities and refractive indices to suit specific measurement requirements. The system supports both sealed and demountable window sets, allowing for either pathlength stability or ease of cleaning and flexibility.

Features and Purposes
  • Modular design composed of cell body, window sets, and spacers enabling disassembly and cleaning.
  • Choice between permanently sealed windows for leakage prevention and pathlength stability or demountable windows for customizable pathlength and easy sample handling.
  • Extensive range of window materials: KBr, NaCl, BaF2, CaF2, ZnSe, KRS-5, AgBr, Fused Silica (IR grade), and Polyethylene; covering spectral transmission from approximately 40000 cm-1 (UV) down to 4 cm-1 (THz).
  • Material-specific spectral ranges and refractive indices, e.g., ZnSe (20000–500 cm-1, n=2.41 at 1000 cm-1), BaF2 (66000–800 cm-1, n=1.40), Polyethylene for Far-IR and THz.
  • Additional spacers (PTFE or Mylar) required for thin window materials such as ZnSe, Silica, AgBr, Si, and Polyethylene.
  • The Mull cell option is optimized for analyzing highly viscous liquids and pastes not suited for sealed cells.
  • Compliance with standard methods including ASTM and EN standards for petrochemical lubricant and in-service oil condition monitoring.
