Gateway | Multi-reflection HATR accessory

The Gateway™ ATR is a 6-reflection horizontal attenuated total reflectance (HATR) accessory designed for FTIR spectrometers to enhance signal-to-noise ratio and improve detection of low intensity absorption peaks. Its multi-bounce configuration provides higher sensitivity compared to single-bounce ATRs, enabling routine use in both academic and industrial laboratory environments.

The accessory supports a wide range of interchangeable sampling top plates suitable for analysis of solids, liquids, and pastes under static or flow conditions, with options for heating up to 200 °C. This versatility allows experiments on samples with varied physical states and temperature requirements, incorporating ZnSe, Si, or Ge crystals optimized for different spectral ranges and penetration depths.

Features and Purposes
  • Six-bounce multiple reflection ATR design with a 45° angle of incidence
  • High sensitivity ATR for improved signal-to-noise ratio on low intensity spectral features
  • Interchangeable sampling top plates for multiple applications including flat, trough (liquids), flow through, and heated experiments
  • Crystal materials available: ZnSe, Si, Ge; spectral range: 7800–500 cm-1 (ZnSe), 8000–1350 & 500–33 cm-1 (Si), 5500–480 cm-1 (Ge)
  • Depth of penetration at 1000 cm-1: ZnSe 2.0 µm; Si 0.9 µm; Ge 0.7 µm (calculated at 45° incidence, sample refractive index 1.5)
  • Sampling top plates include:
    • Flat plate (standard) for pastes, viscous fluids, and solids at ambient temperature
    • Trough plate (standard) for liquids and pastes at ambient temperature
    • Electrically heated trough plate for static samples from ambient to 200 °C
    • Water heated trough plate for static samples from sub-ambient to 90 °C (requires thermocirculating bath)
    • 550 µL flow-through plate for liquid monitoring at ambient temperature
    • 550 µL thermostabilised flow-through plate for liquid monitoring from ambient to 90 °C (requires thermocirculating bath)
