The Harrick Praying Mantis™ High Temperature Reaction Chamber is engineered for diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy (DRIFTS) of powders with high surface area, ideal for studying heterogeneous catalysis, gas-solid interactions, photochemical reactions, and oxidation mechanisms. It enables spectroscopic measurements under rigorously controlled temperature and pressur conditions.
This reaction chamber integrates with the Praying Mantis™ accessory for both FT-IR and UV-VIS spectroscopy, supporting operation in a range of environments from high vacuum up to elevated pressures and temperatures up to 910°C. It is constructed using chemically resistant 316 stainless steel for durability and compatibility with reactive gases.
Operates from high vacuum conditions (133 μPa or 10⁻⁶ torr) up to 133 kPa (1 ktorr) with KBr windows; up to 1.5 MPa (11.3 ktorr) with ZnSe windows. Maximum achievable temperature of 910°C under vacuum. Optional high-pressure dome enables operation up to 3.44 MPa (25.8 ktorr). Equipped with three inlet/outlet ports for cell evacuation and gas introduction. Constructed from chemically resistant 316 stainless steel. Optional inert coatings (Silcotek/Restek) available for enhanced chemical inertness and corrosion resistance. Optional cooling cartridge for moderate cooling or heating when used with a chiller or recirculator. Adapters available for electrochemical measurements with two-, three-, or four-electrode configurations. Alternative window assemblies for specialized microspectroscopy applications, including Raman spectroscopy. Provided components include reaction chamber, low-voltage heating cartridge, K-type thermocouple, FKM fluoroelastomer O-rings, sample packing tool, spill tray, and domes with appropriate windows for FTIR or UV-Vis-NIR configurations.
