Neutral Density Filters (440 – 635 nm)

The Starna Neutral Density Filters are Schott NG type glass filters designed to qualify absorbance accuracy and linearity of visible spectrophotometers with spectral bandwidths of 6.5 nm or less across the wavelength range of 440 – 635 nm. They comply with key pharmacopoeias and regulatory standards.

Each filter is manufactured and certified following the ‘Technical Specification for Certification of Spectrophotometric NIST Traceable Reference Materials’ (NIST Special Publication 260-140), with certifications at wavelengths 440 nm, 465 nm, 546.1 nm, 590 nm, and 635 nm at a bandwidth of 1 nm. Customized certifications at additional wavelengths are available upon request, maintaining traceability by including the mandatory wavelengths.

Features and Purposes
  • Available absorbance values range approximately from 0.04 A to 3.5 A.
  • Standard certified measurement wavelengths: 440, 465, 546.1, 590, 635 nm.
  • Calibration spectral bandwidth (SBW): typically 1 nm; sets meeting NIST SRM requirements conform to specific SBW limits per wavelength.
  • Sets available to meet NIST SRM equivalents: SRM 930e, SRM 1930, and SRM 2930, each comprising specific % transmission and absorbance values.
  • Filters supplied individually or in sets of 4, 6, or 9, with an empty aluminium holder included in SRM-equivalent sets for blank measurements.
  • Certified transmittance values and corresponding absorbances include: 92% (0.04 A), 79.4% (0.10 A), 60% (0.22 A), 50% (0.30 A), 30% (0.52 A), 10% (1.00 A), 3% (1.52 A), 0.1% (3.00 A), among others.
