Metal-on-Quartz Neutral Density Filters (250 – 635 nm)

This Reference Material is designed for qualification of the Absorbance scale in the ultraviolet and visible spectrum range from 250 nm to 850 nm. It is suitable for spectrophotometers with spectral bandwidths not exceeding 10 nm.

The filters are produced by depositing a metallic coating of precise thickness onto a fused silica plate, determining their transmission properties. An optically bonded cover plate overlays the metallic surface to provide protection against oxidation, contamination, and physical degradation. These filters correspond to NIST SRM 2031c standards. The supporting filter holder is made of stress-free black-anodized aluminum alloy, equipped with sliding covers to protect the filter when not in use. Each reference or set is supplied with an empty filter holder serving as a measurement blank.

Features and Purposes
  • Operational wavelength range: 250 nm to 850 nm
  • Designed for spectrophotometers with spectral bandwidths ≤ 10 nm
  • Metallic coating on fused silica substrate with optically bonded cover plate
  • Equivalent to NIST SRM 2031c reference standard
  • Certified absorbance and transmittance values at specific wavelengths: 250, 280, 340, 360, 400, 465, 500, 546.1, 590, and 635 nm
  • Available nominal transmittance/absorbance values include: 92% T (0.04 A), 50% T (0.3 A), 30% T (0.5 A), 20% T (0.7 A), 10% T (1.0 A), 3% T (1.5 A), 1% T (2.0 A), plus lower values down to 0.01% T (4.0 A)
  • Filters are mounted in stress-free black-anodized aluminum alloy holders with front and rear sliding covers
  • Measurement values on the accompanying Calibration Certificate are provided at a bandwidth of 1 nm
  • Potential inter-reflections due to metal coating may affect measurements; instrument compatibility verification is recommended
