This Holmium Oxide Liquid Reference Material is intended for the qualification of wavelength calibration in the ultraviolet and visible spectral regions ranging from 240 nm to 650 nm. It is suitable for use with spectrophotometers having spectral bandwidths of 3 nm or less and is accepted by most pharmacopoeias and standardisation bodies.
The reference consists of a 4% m/v holmium oxide solution in 10% v/v perchloric acid, permanently sealed by heat fusion into a 10 mm far UV quartz cuvette. The use of holmium oxide dissolved in perchloric acid produces a stable Ho3+ aqueous species, resistant to variations in temperature and concentration, providing a reliable and reproducible wavelength standard for instrument qualification.
