Didymium Oxide Solution (290 – 870 nm)

Didymium oxide solution consists of neodymium and praseodymium oxides dissolved in perchloric acid, permanently sealed by heat fusion into a 10 mm far UV quartz cuvette. It is designed as a wavelength calibration standard for spectrophotometers operating in the ultraviolet and visible spectral range from 290 nm to 870 nm.

When used, didymium solution produces a spectral scan with 14 characteristic, well-defined absorption peaks spanning the target wavelength range. Due to the asymmetric nature of the absorption bands, the exact wavelength values depend on spectral bandwidth, and certified values across multiple bandwidths (0.10 nm to 5.00 nm) are provided with each calibration certificate for precise instrument qualification.

Features and Purposes
  • Wavelength range: 290 nm to 870 nm
  • Spectral bandwidth: suitable for instruments with 5 nm or less bandwidth
  • Contains 14 characteristic absorption peaks approximately at: 298, 329, 354, 444, 469, 482, 512, 522, 575, 732, 740, 794, 799, 864 nm
  • Material sealed in a 10 mm far UV quartz cuvette by heat fusion
  • Accepted by major pharmacopoeias and regulatory bodies for wavelength calibration
  • Certified wavelength values supplied at bandwidths: 0.10, 0.25, 0.50, 1.00, 1.50, 2.00, 3.00, 4.00, and 5.00 nm
  • Optional certified values available on request for other wavelengths and bandwidths
