Combined Holmium/Didymium Oxide Solution (240 – 795 nm)

This reference material, designated HDL, is formulated for wavelength scale qualification in the ultraviolet to visible spectral range (240 – 795 nm). It is intended specifically for use with spectrophotometers having spectral bandwidths of 5 nm or less.

The solution contains holmium oxide combined with didymium oxide (a mixture of neodymium and praseodymium oxides) dissolved in 10% v/v perchloric acid. It is permanently sealed by heat fusion within a 10 mm far UV quartz cuvette, ensuring long-term stability and integrity.

Features and Purposes
  • Certified wavelength peaks: 14 discrete absorption maxima at nominal wavelengths 241, 287, 361, 416, 444, 482, 485, 522, 537, 575, 641, 732, 740, and 794 nm.
  • Broad spectral coverage: from deep UV (240 nm) through visible to near 800 nm.
  • Absorption peaks are interference-free across the entire range, providing reliable wavelength validation.
  • Calibration certificates provide actual peak values measured at multiple spectral bandwidths: 0.10, 0.25, 0.50, 1.00, 1.50, 2.00, 3.00, 4.00, and 5.00 nm.
  • Material is supplied in a far UV quartz cuvette with a 10 mm pathlength, permanently sealed by heat fusion for chemical durability and measurement consistency.
  • Suitable for use as a standard in instrument qualification and wavelength calibration protocols for UV-Vis spectrophotometers.
  • Certified values available on request for additional wavelengths and bandwidths to tailor to specific instrumentation.
