Nicotinic Acid Reference Material consists of solutions with concentrations ranging from 6 to 24 mg/L prepared in 0.1 M hydrochloric acid. These are contained in high quality far UV quartz cells and supplied alongside a 0.1 M hydrochloric acid blank cell.
This material is designed to qualify the accuracy and linearity of the absorbance scale of spectrophotometers with a bandwidth less than 2 nm in the far ultraviolet region (210–260 nm). The characteristic absorption peaks appear near 213 nm and 261 nm. Linearity assessment is based on the proportionality of measured absorbance to concentration at these peaks within the specified range.
