Stray Light Cut-off Filters – Filter Ratio Method (190 – 385 nm)

Stray Light Cut-off Filters designed as Certified Reference Materials for qualification of stray light in ultraviolet (UV) spectrophotometers using the Filter Ratio (Mielenz) method. This method, specified in ASTM International E 387 and referenced by the US Pharmacopeia (Method A), is ideal for instruments with extremely low stray light, such as double monochromator systems.

The product range includes cut-off filter solutions covering wavelengths from 200 nm to 390 nm. Each filter solution is permanently sealed by heat fusion into a high-quality far UV quartz cell of 10 mm pathlength and an additional 5 mm pathlength cell containing the same solution. The 5 mm cell is used as a differential reference for measurement against the 10 mm cell, enabling accurate stray light assessment.

Features and Purposes
  • Wavelength range: 200 nm to 390 nm
  • Heat-fused sealed quartz cells, 10 mm and 5 mm pathlengths
  • Certified Reference Materials prepared according to ASTM International E 387
  • Applicable to UV spectrophotometers, especially low stray light instruments like double monochromators
  • Enables qualification of stray radiant energy affecting spectrophotometric accuracy
