Starna Polystyrene References are traceable materials designed for qualification of Mid IR – FTIR spectrophotometers over the wavelength range of 540 cm-1 to 3125 cm-1 (3.2 µm to 18.5 µm). These references can be used to verify wavelength accuracy and, depending on the version, the resolution of Mid IR instruments, including Attenuated Total Reflectance (ATR) measurement systems.
The product RM-1921/38 consists of a 38 µm polystyrene film mounted in a card holder featuring 14 certified absorption peaks traceable to NIST SRM 1921b. These peaks allow precise wavelength qualification and pharmacopoeia compliance assessment (European, Japanese, US Pharmacopeias) for Mid IR instruments. An alternative version, RM-1921/65, adds certified peaks in the NIR region with calibration traceable to NIST SRM 2065 but is not suitable for resolution compliance.
